Commonly found on 2 and 4 post lifts, lifting cables are wound strands of steel that allow the lifts to pull themselves up as well as keeping the the lift synchronised. They have a life span of 6 years and need regular inspection and adjustment. Lifting ropes should be replaced before they fail!
