Many garage equipment lifts use safety locks to park the moving parts on the vehicle lift. This is a safety feature that engages a mechanical stop. Not only do these parts increase the lifts safety, they also prolong the life of the lifts by unweighting the hydraulics and lifting cables while the vehicle lift is at the desired height. There are several different ways these work, either electrically, manually or by air power.
